Financial Coach

Gladys is a Financial Coach.

Although we own a house and had an investment property, we had no real savings, for most of our marriage. My husband, Jim, and I were not poor by any means, but we never displayed much financial forward thinking. For most of our lives, we put the bare minimum in our retirement account, we had no real savings, and we let debt accumulate.

Credit cards, student loans, car loans, etc. Then life happened. In December 2007, we borrowed from our house and put a down payment towards a new property. Six months later, our first child was born. In September 2008, nine months after purchasing our new property, the market crashed. We were financially strained and underwater on both of our properties. Worst of all, the family that we were renting to decided not to pay their rent and we were stuck making two mortgage payments. We were stressed, in over our heads, and did not know what to do. I read a lot of financial books but never implemented them in our marriage.

In 2011, our lives changed drastically, when our missionary friends invited us to a financial workshop at church. This workshop was transformational because it challenged our beliefs and thinking about money. Some information was common sense but insightful because it was explained so simply. That day, we began to think differently about money and its purpose. For the first time in our marriage, we were liked minded and united about money. There were some repentance and forgiveness that went on and it was a humbling experience for both parties. From that point on, we decided to implement everything we learned about money, and our life was immediately transformed. Through trials and errors, we were able to eliminate over one million dollars in debt, all on a civil service income. As you read this bio, our current goal is to pay off our house by the end of 2023.

After being stressed about money for years and having experienced where you are at one point or another, I want to encourage you to join us in this transformational journey of financial wellness and financial literacy. There is hope and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I will not promise that the journey will be easy. It will consist of periods of delayed gratification and self-discipline. However, when you look back later down the road, you will realize that voyage was well worth it. Most importantly, you will have me walk alongside you. I will be there to encourage you every step of the way. I’m passionate about motivating clients to change their mindset, get out of debt, and build wealth for the future. Proverbs 21:20 “The wise have wealth and luxury, but fools spend whatever they get.” Be wise and join me on this transformational life journey.
